The Perplexities of the PEPPER Reports
PEPPER is a vital tool for identifying risk areas and benchmarking with peers. The Program for Evaluating Payment Patterns Electronic Report (PEPPER) is an annual comparative data report that summarizes an HHA’s Medicare claims data statistics for areas prone to abuse/improper Medicare payments. There is a PEPPER for home health and one for hospice. The data provided by the PEPPER should be incorporated into the QAPI process, as well as the compliance plan. In this session, McBee experts Lisa Selman-Holman and Arrica Canty will provide step-by-step information on how the statistics are calculated, explain what the target area numerators and denominators represent, where the data comes from, and how to use the data to improve your quality and stay out of the focus of regulators.
